How High are Your Standards?

In this competitive world we live in it is easy to get overwhelmed and easily defeated. Once you realize that everything around you depends on how you view things and how you let them affect you, you will be able to breathe a bit easier and focus on your goals!

An important lesson I have learned in my life is to always try your best and don’t allow other people’s standards to influence yours; unless of course their’s are higher. If you work at a job that you hate or are highly unsatisfied with and work based on how much you make or who is watching, then it’s not your true self that is doing the work. If you are doing something that makes you happy, you will be so immersed and preoccupied that you won’t have time to stare at the clock, to slowly count how many hours are left till the end of your shift or when your lunch or next break will be.

I’ve been around people who know how to bring others down and have a pessimistic perception of life. I’ve also been around those who know how to lift people up and can provide some constructive criticism to their peers, friends and family. I used to think that a job was just that, a job; something I did to to pay all my bills so that I could live paycheck to paycheck and get through life. I have noticed that since I have become older, everything you do or say is a reflection of you and your standards and that when you do something you should approach it in the same manner as something you are passionate about. For example, treating your everyday job as your dream job would make it so much easier to get through the day instead of attempting to look busy when coworkers and management walk by.

Now standards can be high or low, but I have witnessed the difference in the mindset, mentality and attitudes of those who value themselves enough to base all their actions on their standards. Those who have higher standards hold themselves accountable to them on their own, no one needs to remind them, no one needs to tell them, they have made those standards a part of who they are. I strive to lead a life where my standards are high and I am able to be consistent in my level of effort, maintaining a positive attitude and forever looking for ways to improve.

Do you have high standards? What made you shape such standards? Do you do at least one thing a day that helps you improve your life?

Stay strong and beautiful!

Looking Forward to Making Memories With You

From Ms. to Mrs.

This past Saturday, I got married to the Love of my Life and now dear Husband, Sean. I have to admit the weather forecast was making me a bit nervous, especially when reports of a possible tornado came about. However, God is great and it was a beautiful day, after a few showers in the morning and early afternoon. It flew by and truly was the happiest day of my life.

Always Blessed

I could not have chosen a better life partner and cannot wait to see what our future brings. We were very satisfied with all of our vendors and are happy with how everything turned out. We feel so blessed and grateful for all of our family and friends who attended to share our special day with us!

I realize now that getting laid off, each time has been a blessing in disguise. On the surface, it seemed that I had lost a steady pay cheque but underneath it all, it pushed me to greater places. If I had not got laid off the first time, I would still be working at a job that did not provide me any challenges and I would be miserable and feeling so useless and probably would still be in Alberta, struggling to save up and pay the bills, all while being away from family and friends. The second time I got laid off, I learned that money comes and goes. Although I was making a substantial amount more, I was smart and diligent with my spending. In the end, my now husband and I were able to move back to Ontario to be closer to family and friends and we were also able to purchase an investment property together. It just goes to show you that sacrifices are not taken for granted and that life is what you make it.

1000 Thank You’s

With that being said, I can’t thank those near and dear to my heart for making our big day possible, Shout out to my amazing bridal party and sister who ensured everything went smoothly, I cannot believe how fast the roce, rehearsal, night before and day of the wedding went. I would not be who I am today, without you, so thank you. It was so nice seeing you for 4 consecutive days and I will cherish the fun times forever.

To be marrying your best friend is one thing, to be marrying your best friend on your 8 year anniversary together, is something else. I am so happy and thankful we came into each other’s lives I can’t wait to start this journey called marriage with you. I love you more every day and am truly blessed….I can now proudly cross off #188 and #205 on my Life List.

Stay strong and beautiful!

Countdown to My Forever

Well first I would like to apologize for my less frequent posts. I am getting married very soon and have been busily preparing, designing, negotiating and enjoying every minute of wedding planning.

From the stresses that come with setting a (realistic) budget to choosing and purchasing your dream dress, asking your closest friends to be a part of your big day, arguing over small details and everything in between, I am so grateful and over the moon to be marrying my better half, best friend and the man of my dreams in about a week.

We recently got our engagement photos taken and it was such a happy and fun experience, and brought my fiance and I even closer. Since we are not the photographic type, we don’t necessarily choose to take pictures, but in this case I am so glad we did.

Here are some of my favourite shots:

Can’t wait to spend forever with you my love! #kimchimasala #elissaandsean2016

Some people plan their wedding for a year even more, some just a few weeks or months and all of them are beautiful. I thought long and hard about what I wanted for my wedding, in terms of colours, theme, etc. and while I didn’t have very interesting ideas, I really enjoyed being a part of it. I felt it brought everyone closer and I feel so blessed to be surrounded by such a good group of people who I am proud to call my support system.

I can’t thank my bridal party enough for throwing me such a beautiful bridal shower.

Stay strong and beautiful!
